Strengths: mechanic work, selling people on his ideas (or anything else for that matter), being charming
Weaknesses: fighting, being serious, doesn't know when to shut up
Goals: wants to be a legitimate mechanic someday, and to open up his own auto shop
Fears: being killed by the people that killed his parents, getting caught up in any kind of serious fight
Secrets: he witnessed his parent's murder, he knows where his dad's stash of weapons and money is
Likes: coffee, music, girls, cars, dogs, action movies, and cartoons
Dislikes: crime dramas, snakes, oranges, drugs, and people that take advantage of each other
Overall Personality: Charming, sweet, and quick to smile, you probably wouldn't expect Connor O'Bryne to be involved in the mob or to work in a chop shop. He's not just the sweetheart boy who will defend a girl from a pushy guy, even if it results in him getting hit. Behind all that, there's a smooth-talker who will use his charm to get what he wants, even at the expense of others sometimes. Not the wittiest, he's a little slow to pick up on things sometimes, but he's no idiot. He can have a bit of a motor mouth, and doesn't really know when to shut up, which can get him into trouble sometimes. A fan of challenges, he rarely does anything the easy way, and is pretty used to getting roughed up because of it. Even if he likes a challenge, though, he hates fighting, mostly because he's not a big guy. If it comes down to it, though, he's a little paranoid, and always carries a gun with him - and he knows how to use it.
all reason aside i just can't deny, love the guy...
Hometown: Cork, Ireland
History: It's been seven years since Connor's life fell apart. Seven years since he witnessed the death of his parents, and was left with a secret that some would kill to know. Seven years since he and his older brothers and younger sister came to the United States to get a fresh start after losing their parents.
Life for the O'Bryne family had been peaceful for a time. Even though Ian was an arms dealer, he managed to keep his family fairly out of it. Until shortly before their death, Connor was entirely unaware of his father's profession and his parent's illegal activities. It was something that even once he had found out, they didn't discuss, especially not around his mother or sister. Ian drilled it into his boy's heads that their mother and sister were fragile, delicate creatures who had to be treated with the utmost of care.
It was a simple life for the family. They lived in Cork, though Ian traveled often for business. The three boys spent much of their time outside, rough-housing in the mud and dirt, generally messy and loud. Their younger sister often tried to tag along, but being so much younger was often left behind. If you were to ask Connor, he'd say that his childhood was happy, even if there were problems. Problems like his father's 'business associates' visiting in the middle of the night and frightening his mother, or the time his father got shot in the shoulder when he was eleven. Life was simple and happy, for the most part, but not without it's own troubles.
The night his parents were killed, the four children were supposed to be gone. His two older brothers were at university, and his sister was sleeping over at a friend's house. Connor was supposed to be doing the same, but the fifteen year old had realized he'd forgotten his new game, and had gone home to get it. When he got home, he was just in time to see his parents gunned down, his mother dying instantly, his father left bleeding out on the floor.
Ian made his youngest son promise not to tell anyone what had happened, and told him the location of his secret cache of weapons and money, so that his children would never want for anything. Connor was to never tell anyone but his brothers, and possibly his sister, of the cache, and to this day, he's kept his word. Following his father's instructions, he left the house, pretending he'd seen nothing, and has kept the act up for seven years.
The day after the murder, Connor and Mary-Anne were picked up by police officers, and their brothers came home from university, shocked to hear the news of their parent's deaths. The pair were both studying in the United States, and each of them took one of their younger siblings to care for while they finished school. Ian Jr. took care of Connor, and Seamus took care of Mary-Anne. Time passed faster than Connor thought possible, as he struggled to adjust to his new life in the states.
It's been seven years, and now, all four siblings live together. Connor dropped out of high school in his senior year, to the aggravation of both of his brothers, and got a job as a mechanic at an auto garage. None of his siblings are aware of his side job, at Pixel's chop shop. If any of them knew, Connor's fairly sure they wouldn't approve, but he's currently of the mind that what they don't know won't hurt them. Ian Jr. and Seamus have taken on the roles of caregiver to the younger pair, but that doesn't mean that the youngest brother accepts being taken care of.
Roleplay Sample:
Connor had only signed up for the creative writing class because he thought it would be easy. He was fairly creative, and while he wasn't that great of a writer, he figured that learning how couldn't hurt. Besides, it was something that he knew would have annoyed his father. Even if Connor didn't see the man anymore, he couldn't pass up the chance to do that. It wasn't that he disliked him. Deep down, Connor knew that he truly cared about his father, if only for the fact that the man had helped to give him life and raised him for seventeen years. He just also liked annoying him. It was a quirk.
Walking into the creative writing class he was sure would irritate his father, he grinned at the teacher, before taking his seat. Pulling out his notebook and pen, he read the word on the board. Forgiveness. It was a concept he was fairly familiar with. He was a forgiving person. He'd forgiven his father for everything he'd done to him, even his decision to get rid of his son. It wasn't easy, really, to forgive the years of torment his father had made him endure. But, Connor felt it was necessary. Holding onto resentment and grudges made one bitter. He liked smiling, he liked forgiving, and to an extent, he liked forgetting. It was part of life.
