Gage had been through his first two sets. Now he was on his hour break before his next two. Some times he felt like this was the right life for him, singing in clubs and bars and stuff. It should be arena's packed with people. One day that's how it would be. He had to keep telling himself that. One day a scout or someone would notice him while he was playing and then he'd be off to the big times. One day. For now he made enough to pay the bills and keep his son happy and a little on the side as a teacher at the college. So he was doing a decent job and most people around town knew who he was. And if they didn't, well they should.
He sat down at the bar and ordered something non-alcoholic to drink since he did have to return to work a little later on. He had people to entertain. His eyes looked around. Seemed the place just filled up more and more the later it got. He look down at his watch, then to his glass. Every now and then he'd sign an autograph for a lady or take a picture with her. He did this until his next set. Once he was over with those it was pretty close to midnight and he was ready to unwind a little. So once he had his guitar and stuff packed away he went to the bar and ordered a beer.

There were lots of ways the off-duty homicide officer would rather be spending her Saturday night.. and sadly enough, the number one thing on the list.. was to be on duty. Number two, was probably sitting in a bubble bath, reading. The last thing on the list was probably getting her fingernails ripped out.. Then below that, not even on the list at all, was sitting in a booth near the stage, around a bunch of women that kept screaming in her ear and giggling loudly, giving cat calls to the admittedly cute act on stage, and wearing one of many identical shirts stating that she was "sister of the bride" across her chest.. The only sister of the bride that wasn't at the bar was Penny, and no way in hell Eva was ever allowing Penny in a bar, even if she was forty-eight.
Eva finished her "pink bubblegum martini, yum, giggle", just as the guy on stage was finishing his set. Eva crawled over the table, and made her way over to the bar. She needed a drink right now, a real one. So she ordered a shot of jack, and then a beer. Once she wrapped her hand around the bottle she glanced back at her table, curled her lip, and slipped onto a bar stool. She took a sip, letting her tense shoulders relax... seconds before some sleaze walked up to her. "Hey, you pretty little thing.. You know, it must be lonely.. your sister getting married.. you're still single.. why don't I.. cheer you up?" He asked, and she stood up, almost meeting the guy eye to eye. "Give me one reason.. One reason and I'll kick your ass right now." She said. He smirked, and reached behind her, grabbing and squeezing her ass. "Why don't you fuck me instead?" Then Eva smashed her beer bottle over the guys head, grabbed him by the back of her head, and yanked him forward, smashing his mouth into the edge of the counter, the sound giving off a satisfying crunch. Eva pulled the guys face over to hers. "You can call that police brutality, dick cheese." Eva then turned, and ordered another beer, sitting as far away from the guy currently nursing his broken teeth, sitting down on a bar stool by the guy who'd been singing earlier. She looked over at him, a blank expression. "Bachelorette parties are the bomb." She said, deadpan, then looked away and took another sip of her beer.

Gage sat quietly drinking his drink. He looked over only to see a woman beating the crap out of some guy. At least she could take care of herself. Then she was sitting next to him. He really didn't want to be the next guy in line for that. He gave her a small smile when she spoke to him. He turned slightly and let his eyes land on the women in the corner booth. They were the loud group. The loud wild group. He didn't exactly blame her for kicking the crap out of that guy knowing now she was part or the party going on in the corner.
"Ah yeah ... Looks like you're having a blast." She wasn't the only one who could be sarcastic. Usually he tried to stay away from parites like that. They were usually nothing but trouble. But this woman, aside from what she did to that guy seemed nice. "I'm Gage" He held his hand out towards her. He hoped she wouldn't fine that offensive and try to hurt him for doing so. He offered another small smile to her so that she knew he was just being friendly and that he wasn't try to pick her up. He usually didn't pick people up in places like this. People who hung out here were usually not the kind of people you want your son to view as examples.

Eva hadn't exactly expected the guy to start talking to her.. Normally when she beat the shit out of someone, other people left her alone. Not this guy. He was being a smart ass, and she had to admit that the comment made her smile softly, but she didn't expect anything after that. But then he was introducing himself. "Mmmm." She said, because she had the bottle to her lips and beer in her mouth. She pulled it away, and swallowed, shifting the beer bottle from one hand to the other, and reached out, taking his hand and shaking it. Eva didn't shake like a southern belle and gently place her hand in Gage's, she shook his hand firmly, damn near painfully, like a man. "I'm Eva Sanchez and those.. people.. are my sisters." She shook her head, and pointed to her chest. "See? My youngest sister is getting married. She's eighteen. Eighteen!" She turned back after dropping his hand, shaking her head. At eighteen she was trying to train her for future job.. not getting married.
Eva paused for a second.. then she was ranting to a guy she barely knew. "I mean, don't get me wrong, the guy she's marrying? He's amazing. I don't even feel like I have to threaten him with my connections in the police department too keep him from hurting her, he's just.. in love with her. And he should be! Marie is an amazing girl! Women! She's beautiful, and talented, and kind, and she deserves a good man but she doesn't need one. I don't understand why she's freaking.. getting married at eighteen. So many options! I wish I'd had that many options, I probably wouldn't be I fucking homicide detective." Eva chugged some of her beer, then slammed the empty bottle down. "Whatever happened to college? To exploring who you are? She doesn't.. know what she wants right now.. How can she get married?" Eva still didn't understand herself, who she was and what she wanted. She just didn't.. get it. "She says she knows.. that he's the right guy.. how can you just.. know that someone is who you're suppose to spend the rest of your life with?" She looked over at Gage again finally, wondering what his answer to that would be.

Gage smiled when she introduced herself. Eva. It was a pretty name. She was pretty. Then she went into explaining about her sister. How she was to young to be married. But how she insisted that she was in love. Some people knew who they were. He knew exactly who he was before high school. He was meant to be a musician. And he was well on his way he thought. Though there were a few bumps along the way. He was right on track. Though he wasn't sure exactly what the right answer to her last question was. He hadn't been in a relationship that had worked out and he hadn't been in love.
"Some people .. don't need college to figure out who they are on the inside. I went to college knowing full well who I was and what I was going to be." And just cause she was getting married didn't mean she couldn't still go to college. "I'm probably not the right guy to ask about love. Sure I can sing a love song and I can write them, but I've never been in love so I don't know what it feels like so really I can't answer that question" His eyes looked over to hers. She was a beautiful woman. If he had more guts he might just ask her out on a date. She'd make a pretty one. And so far he liked her

Eva turned and stared down at the bottle when Gage began speaking. Must be so nice to just have it all figured out. Gage much be some sort of damn genius, just so damn intelligent he knew what he wanted to be for the rest of his life right off the bat. If Eva hadn't.. been a bully, would she had figured it all out? Would she had seen the path she was suppose to take, or would she still be wondering what she wanted to be that day she walked down the stage at graduation? Would she have applied for more schools? Would she had actually gotten in? If she'd been more focused on school instead of bullying someone into doing her homework for her, would she had gotten better grades? All of her sisters were really smart, and they'd gotten really good grades in high school.. Would Eva had been the same way? She forced herself not to think about those things, and instead picked the bottle up and brought it to her lips. "Lucky you." She said before taking a drink.
Then Gage was speaking again, about love. His personality was.. so different than hers. He was like a peace keeper. She jumped up and start ranting about the littlest thing, and he was all calming words and easily pushing her away from being angry. He made it hard to be quick tempered around him. "You.. shouldn't tell someone that. It shatters the illusion of you being this sexy.. experienced, heart broken slash heart breaker that just needs a little love to stop him from his harmful ways of sleeping around to find love and them running away once he finds it." That all love songs were ever about, anyway. Either getting your heart broken, or breaking someones heart. At least, that's what Eva got and heard from them.. except Disney songs, surprisingly enough.
"EVA MARIA, STOP FLIRTING WITH THE ENTERTAINMENT BEFORE HE THINKS HE'S GONNA GET LUCKY AND GET US A REFILL OF MARTINIS AND SHOTS." Eva froze, and sighed heavily. "I don't.. suppose you would believe there is another Eva in here, would you?" Eva asked, and drank the last few drops of her beer, then waved the bartender over, digging in her pocket for some money. "Another beer, and four of those pink martini things, and some kind of shots, please." Eva passed the bartender some money, and waited for him to fix the drinks. "So..is this your job? Like your feel time job or do you do something else, too?" She asked, then the bartender was setting a tray of drinks in front of her. She took the beer bottle off, and set it in front of Gage. "Hold that thought, watch that, I'll be right back." She said, then picked up the tray and moved back to the table, setting the drinks in front of the women. She yelled from Spanish at them, then moved back to Gage, taking her beer. "Okay, you have my undivided attention until Marie starts puking."

Gage took a drink listening to her speak. It sounded to him like she was .. hitting on him. But then the table in the corner was calling for her. He turned his head some and let his blue eyes look at them. He was good at being the mysterious type. But he felt like with Eva it was ok to just be himself. He didn't need to be the big shot musician who could make any girl fall in love with him and this is why your lucky he was interested in you. He didn't have to do that. "Now I never said I wasn't a heart breaker. And one day I hope that I can be in love. That one of these love songs works on a girl, for longer then sleeping together once. And ... I am .. Sexy that is." He smiled some.
Then she was catering over to the table and back as quickly as possible. "I sing at alot of different places, this being one of them yeah. But I also teach at River City University. Its my steady job. But this one brings in the most money. One day .. I'll be singing in arena's not in clubs." He smiled and looked over at Eva. "So you're one of River Cities finest" He remembered her saying she was a detective. It was fitting for her. And River city needed to be cleaned up. Rid of all the crime and all the fighting.

Eva smiled softly as Gage explain his jobs to her. Hey, he had dreams.. she liked that. It was more than she ever had. Eva had gotten into law enforcement because it seemed like a job she'd like. Which she did, for the most part, except when one of the cases that fell on her desk went cold. She hated that, not being able to do the justice she wanted. Sometimes she knew who the killer was, she just didn't have enough to pin it on them. She wished the mobs would just.. poof out of existence, it would make her life a hell of a lot easier. "Well.. expect my ass in one of the front row seats when you become famous. I'll even buy a poster or something you can sign. Matter of fact..." Eva hopped off the bar stool, and walked over to the table grabbing a marker from one of her sister's purses, than walked back over to Gage, holding it out for him. "Sign the t-shirt, since it's apparently gonna be worth a lot some day." She smiled at him. She hoped it happened for him. She also hoped money started raining from the sky.
Eva took another sip of beer and nodded at his question. Or actually, it was more of a statement. "Yeah but I'm not the one that you see on the streets, pulling people over for speeding. Like I said, I'm a homicide detective, so you won't get arrested from me unless you've murdered someone, or are a suspect in a murder case... Have you murdered someone, blondie?" Eva asked, her eyebrow raising, face serious. Then she cracked into a smile. "I'm joking. But please don't get arrested for murdered... I think it'll put a major damper on your music career, and you're much to pretty to go to tell, sweetie." She stated, having sat down again she reached over and patted his face, smiling as she took another sip of her beer.

Gage couldn't help but smile while she spoke. He'd even give her the tickets. He assumed that she was a fan of what he'd just sung if she was saying she'd be in the front row at one of his concerts. Then she was getting off her stool and walking over to her table, his eyes of course followed her and watched while she dug around in a purse. Then she was walking back over to him and she was holding out a marker to him, telling him to sign her t-shirt since it was gonna be worth a lot some day. He couldn't help but smile some as he took the marker. He stood from his stool and moved to the back of her and wrote on her shirt 'Thanks for being my number one fan' and signed his name.
Then she was explaining that she worked in homicide. So he wouldn't see her on the job unless he was involved in a murder. And telling him he was to pretty to go to jail. So she thought he was cute. that made his smile grow a little. He capped the marker and put it on the bar in front of her. "I won't I promise. And its nice to hear that I have a fan waiting for me to hit the major leagues of music. And I'll do you one better than front row seats. I'll get ya a backstage pass. And to top that, I'll even do better than an autograph." Then he was making her look at him and his lips were touching hers.

Eva felt Gage writing something, but it's not like she could exactly make out what it was by feel, and it was on her back so she couldn't see it. Oh well, she guess she'd see what it was when she took her shirt off before going to bed. She smiled softly when Gage began speaking. He had to admit, Gage's music wasn't that bad, and counter in the fact that he wrote his music.. that was pretty damn amazing. Then Gage was saying he's do one better than an autograph. She looked at him, a playful, curious smirk playing on her lips for a few short seconds before it was replaced with Gage's lips. She slammed her bottle down, standing up so she could kiss better.. and instead of punching him or slamming his face into the counter.. she slowly wrapped her arms around his neck, slowly relaxing.. melting into him, and kissed him back.
"SLIP HIM A LITTLE TONGUE, EVA." "GRAB THAT SEXY WHITE ASS." "SQUEEZE IT, GIVE HIM A LITTLE RUBBING ACTION" Three of her sisters yelled, Marie, Michelle and of course, Gemma all yelled from across the bar, whilst making cat calls. Eva pulled away, gritting her teeth and her head snapping towards her sisters in the corner. "SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE." She yelled, but that only made them laugh and begin clapping, all raising their glass, going "woooooo!" and taking a drink. Eva turned back towards Gage, then looked away, slowly reaching out and grabbing the marker off the bar. "I know.. you probably get this a lot.. from a lot trash in bars.. But.. this this my number.." She took his hand, popped off the cap and began writing on the palm of it. "And.. I mean that was probably just a kiss to you, but I don't exactly go around and make out with random hot entertainment at bars so you.. I actually like you.. and if you called me.." She stopped writing, and blow on his hand softly to dry the ink. "I wouldn't hang up." She said, putting the cap back on the marker and smiling softly at him.

Gage liked the way she stood up and her arms around his neck. Just like it was meant to be. It felt right. Then came the calls of course. And they made it through all three then she was pulling away to yell at them. He smiled and looked over in their direction again. Kind of a shame cause he would have continued kissing her for pretty much the rest of the time they were there. But her sisters ruined it for him. Then she was speaking again and he slowly tore his eyes away and looked down at what she was doing.
She was writing her phone number on his hand. Yeah he did get that a lot. But not from people he really wanted it from. But Eva, he could actually see calling her. If it wasn't weird in the morning. He smiled looking up at her. "Are you gonna remember giving me this in the morning?" He just wanted to make sure she wasn't doing this cause she was drunk and then he'd look like an idiot calling her. That just wouldn't be right. His blue eyes, which seemed darker in the lighting they were in looked to hers. Hers were a pretty color of brown.

Eva looked back into Gage's eyes, suddenly realizing that her hand was slowly traveling up his abs and chest. Whoa, okay, maybe she had more than she thought she had, only way to explain why she was randomly feeling up from guy she just met. She smirked at his words though, tearing her eyes away from his after another few moments, and pulled her hand away from his right pec. "Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I'm a light weight, sweetie." Eva said, reaching up and patting his cheek softly with a smile. She sat back down, another playful smirk finding her lips. She was glad Gage kissed her.. She wouldn't admit it out loud, especially to her siblings, but.. it felt nice to kiss someone. To have someone want to kiss her. Normally she was scary enough that she.. well, scared guys off.
She took a sip of her beer, glanced over at her sisters, then back to Gage. "Yeah.. I'll remember. I'm not promising you anything by giving you my number.. so don't read into it. I'm a hard person to get to know, and the only people that I really talk to is my family, and my partner, so I can't promise that we'll become... I don't know, even friends would be difficult." She said, giving a shrug. "And I can't promise that my family will like you, or that you'll like them." Her family was.. different. Really loud, kind of rude, tended to scream things in Spanish. "Did I scare you off yet?" She questioned, her face cracking into a smile once again, and she chuckled softly as she brought the bottle to her smiling lips again.

Gage listened to her speak. So she wasn't drunk and she'd remember who he was when he called her. And he would call her. It didn't matter what she said to try and scare him. He was persistent. And he would keep calling, and keep trying to know her and if the sexual comments from her sisters in the corner were the worst he'd ever see .. then he could handle her family. He already got her to kiss him without beating his face in like the unfortunate man who tried before. So he thought he was ahead in the game.
"Scared. Me? No .. See I'm a persistent guy .. I'll keep trying until it happens. I look forward to getting to know you detective" He smiled some looking down at her. One of the very few fans out in places like this he would enjoy company from. She at least didn't cop a feel at his butt like most girls would have. Some times they just walk by and do it. But he would enjoy feeling her lips pressed against his again. He'd never forget how it felt the first time. Her lips were soft and she tasted sweet. Maybe he'd find she was just as sweet once he got to know her.

Eva smiled softly. She liked Gage... She could actually talk to him unlike most people she met. He had things to say, and she could of likes what they were, and the voice he said them in.. So maybe she was a little smitten with the fellow, but that didn't stop him from being any less intelligent and nice to talk to. She chuckled when he said he wasn't scared.. oh well, he'd probably get groped if he ever met her siblings, he'd probably become scared then. Then he was saying he was looking forward to getting to know her, and called her detective, and she couldn't help but smiled.. for about two seconds before she saw one of her siblings hurl on the floor. Oh.. parties over.. It was time to go home. Eva turned back to Gage, and leaned forward, kissing him again softly. She pulled away after a moment, and smiled. "Call... but not too early in the morning.. cool?" Then she went back to the table, helping get everyone together to leave.
