Austin had been trying to get further and further into the Irish mafia for two years. Two years and he was just getting in with the drug dealers and the suppliers. His bosses were a little more happier about that. He'd been with one of the suppliers waiting for a dealer to show up. When he did show up he was short a lot of cash. Like enough that the supplier was super angry. And then Austin was ordered to kill the man. This was his chance to prove himself and to get even deeper in. But he didn't have time to call his CO. This decision had to be made now, blow his cover or kill the man. He was a low life drug dealer anyways. So he took the gun from the supplier and shot him. So his aim was a little off. If he didn't get help now the man was going to die. But before he could say anything the supplier ordered him to leave and there was one more gunshot once he was around the corner. He knew the bosses wouldn't be so happy about this but if it got him closer they would live as long as he reports it ASAP.
A few hours later Austin was standing by a bridge in the park smoking a cigarette. It was a nasty habit, one that he might quit if he was ever just a normal cop again. Being undercover took its toll on you. All he really wanted to do was bring down the bad guys and make the world a little safer. It seemed like a hard thing to do. And it was a lonely life. Not being able to make friends or, have a love life. Of which he had made the mistake of falling for a girl. He liked Lilly. She was a sweet person. Didn't belong in this world and yet she was. She worked at the strip club not to far from here.

Eva rubbed sleep from her eyes. Any other normal person would be getting off work at this time, not waking up for it. She and Gabriel had scored the night shift that week, so she was still getting use to it. She hopped in the shower, cursing when she realized she'd forgotten to take off her socks. She stripped them off and tossed them onto the tile, then finished showering, mostly standing there, letting hot water hit her, run over her face and turn her skin red. She shut it off and got out, and after putting in some heat protecting spray, she hit her hair with the blow dryer, drying it til it was damp then she shut it off, put her hair into a fish tail braid down the back, and tying it off. Since she'd washed her face in the shower, she put a little bit of moisturizer on her hand, and massaged it into her face. She skipped the make up, she never worn it to work.
She headed back into her room, and went to her dresser, grabbing out a dark gray tank top before she closed the drawer, and went to her closet. Dark blue jeans were item number two she grabbed. She made sure her legs were completely dry before she slipped into her jeans, because have you ever tried to get on jeans while wet? She put on the tank top, then sat on the edge of her bed. She leaned forward, opening the bottom drawer and pulling out a pair of charcoal gray socks and slipping them on. She reached under her bed, and pulled out her black work boots. She slipped in her feet and laced them up tightly, to where they were snug but she could still feel her feet. She stood up, grabbing her badge from on top of her dresser, then heading out the door after grabbing her jacket from the back of the door.
She'd swung by to get herself and Gabriel some coffee, and by the time she got to the station they were being call to a homicide in the the east side. Even though she'd grown up in River City, you didn't have to to know that that was Irish territory. They investigated the crime scene, and as they were heading back to station, they decided to stop and ask around. They parked and took off on foot, in different directions. She'd been asking for a while when she finally decided no one wanted to talk to a cop, and she tucked the chain that had her badge on the end into her shirt. The next people she saw were two guys, smoking at the park. She calmly walked up to them, and nodded. "Hey. You think I can get a cigarette from you? I ran out this morning." The trick to being a good liar? Add details. Also, helps to be a cop, they pretty much teach you to lie.

Austin was always cautious about who was around him. So when a woman was approaching them he knew before the supplier he was with knew. Then she was asking him if she could have a cigarette. Austins light blue eyes looked her over once, not like a was checking her out, but like he was gathering information about her by her clothes, accessories, and body language. Something he was taught in the academy. Something seemed off about her. He wasn't sure what it was. But he knew something was.
He reached into his jacket and got out his pack of cigarettes. He took one out and handed it to the lady. Then he took his lighter and lit it and lit her cigarette. Then he re pocketed the lighter and the cigarettes and looked to her. "Beat it lady .. we've got business to discuss" Austin looked to the guy he was with and then back to the lady. He knew, unlike his 'friend' here that it was always best to stay quiet about things especially when you didn't know the people around you. This girl could be a cop for all they knew and she was just waiting for one of them to slip up and talk. He was undercover, who's to say she wasn't either.

Eva smiled softly at the blonde who took out a cigarette for her. Eva smiling was rare, but she'd take it until she made it with these pair. She put the cigarette between her lips and lean forward, inhaling as the blonde lit the cigarette for her. She wished she could say this was the first cigarette for her, but it wasn't. She use to smoke a little bit in high school, but she quit after the shooting. It's funny how a near death experience will make you start thinking about your life more closely. Like did she really want to die at age 60 from lung cancer? No, no she did not. She exhaled, trying to drag it out, acting like she was craving a cigarette since that morning. She smiled again at the blonde. "Thanks, sweetie, you're a life saver." Then the other man was telling her to beat it.. Who the hell did he think he was? Micheal Jackson? She almost lost her cool, almost yelled at him that she deserved respect, and where exactly he could shove that business.
But then she remembered her badge wasn't visiable, and she could just look like a lunatic. Her gun was concealed under her jacket, and her cuffs were on the back of her belt, and she'd pulled her tank top over them, so she didn't look like a cop, and this guy had no idea who she was. Whatever, she'd fix his little red wagon. She took another long drag, then put her left ankle to her right knee and reached down, stubbing the cigarette out on her boot, then tucking it into her pocket. She didn't need to litter. "Speaking of business.." She reached into her shirt, annd pulled out the badge, holding it up from them to clearly read "River City Police Department" embossed in the shiny metal. "Mind if I ask you a few questions before I 'beat it'?" She questioned, smirking at him. Man how she'd love to slam his face into the hood of her car as she cuffed him.

Austin nodded some when she said thanks. Again he knew it better to stay quiet. He already had a message in with his boss about the things that went on, but he wasn't sure if he had gotten it or not. Then she was saying speaking of business and she was reaching in her shirt and that made him tense some. Then she was pulling out a badge. Shit. He looked at it some, he'd never had to deal with on the job cops, usually they knew that if he had to do with the east side to call the people in charge of this investigation. This could potentially ruin his cover.
But when he saw the supplier start running he look back to the woman, then he hopped over the side on the bridge and hit the little pavement path below it and started running. Man that jump was a tad bit painful. He knew how he was taught to pace himself in the academy because the perp would always run out of steam. Well if he paced himself here she'd for sure catch him. He needed to lose her. So instead of following the path he ran off of it and through some trees, jumping over some hedges and going as fast as he could.

Eva frowned when the guy ran away. What the hell? She wasn't going to arrest him for being a dick. No, she just might find him while off duty and kick his ass for being a dick. Then the guy who'd given her a cigarette was running off as well. That meant.. they had something to hide. "Shit, shit, shit." Eva ran down the bridge, towards the first guy, but realized he was too far away, and she had a better chance of checking the blonde guy, so she took off after him. She cursed under her breath softly she saw him head into the woods, and she went in after him, just not in the same spot. She came into a path, and looked around, seeing his back in distance. Well, fuck. She took off after him. He wasn't kidding around with this whole running thing. She was going to have to step up her game.
She took advantage of her long legs, and used all of them, taking long leaps towards the guy. As she got closer to the guy she took one last leap onto his back, and tackled him into the ground. Ow. That didn't feel good, and she even had the guy to cushion her blow. "Don't run from the cops, shit face, it makes you look guilty." Eva said, panting as she grabbed the guys arms and twisted them behind his back, cuffing his hands together. Still sitting on his back, Eva pulled out her cell phone, and called Gabriel to get the car and come pick her and the "piece of dick cheese" up. She waited and then shoved the guy into the back seat, barely waiting until his feet were out of the way to slam the door. Then they were at the station, and he'd been put in an interrogation room, and his hands were now in front of him. Eva came in calmly, now just wearing a tank top and jeans. She sat down, a cup of coffee in her hand. "Why'd you run?" Eva asked, figuring she'd rather just jump start into the questions. "It's funny, the park into two far away from where she found a dead body this evening, and I get there.. show my badge.. and you and shit for brains run off.. Why?"

Austin kept going until he felt her hit him and he was knocked of balance and down they went. Then she was cuffing him and her partner was coming with the car. He was finally just getting in with these people, and that was not an easy task. Then this shit for brains cop was arresting him for, she hadn't even charged him and possibly ruining all the progress he was making with the people in the organization. All in one stupid dive. Once they got to the police station he was sat in an interrogation room. And then just left to sit there until they obviously figured out how they wanted to question him.
Then the bitch that could possibly ruin all his hard work came in and sat down across from him. Austin stared at her quietly. Then she was asking him questions. He had nothing to say to her without the captain there. "Get Captain Perez. He's incharge of narco and gangs. Get him and you can have any question you'd like answered." Austin continued to stare at her. It didn't matter what little tricks they tried playing on him. He knew them all. It'd be a cold day in hell before she intimidated him. She was fast on her feet, good for her.

Eva just watched the guy. She was use to guys thinking they were bigger and tougher than her, and that they didn't have to be intimidated by her. But she'd grown up with three older brother, and four older sisters.. and the girls were always scarier. Then he was saying to go get the Captain in charge of narcotics and gangs. Oh, he thought he called the shots? Cute. She was just about to put him in his place when where was a knocking sound on the two way glass. She rolled her eyes and got up without speaking to the blonde. She edited the room and closed the door behind her. A couple minutes later there was yelling, and Eva flung the door open, the very Captain he was talking about behind her, looking very displeased. "I don't give a rats ass who he is, he got in my way!"
The Hispanic woman walked over to him, pulling her set of keys out of her pocket, and getting to her handcuff key. She walked over to him, undoing and ripping her hand cuffs off him, then shoving it into the pouch it went into on her belt. "Thank you so much for wasting my time, if you'll excuse me, I have a real fucking job to do." Eva turned and stormed out of the room. The fucker couldn't get anything good in two years? He was worthless, and just wasted her time when she could be doing something that actually helped people. Eva sat down at her desk, slapping the file that laid open on it closed and tossing it into her drawer. Maybe the fucker shouldn't have ran away. and they wouldn't be in this mess. Or maybe he should get better at running.
