So Austin finally after two years had his first assignment in the organization that wasn't just moving crates and bags of stuff from warehouse to warehouse, which was a legal job that paid shit money. He was to see about stealing a shipping list from the Price warehouse. He spent a couple weeks watching patterns of people. They were dumb they should atleast change their patterns up like once a week. People who knew how to do recon like him could easily come and go as they pleased. So about an hour after the warehouses were 'closed' for the night, meaning everyone but a few guards were gone he moved in.
His dark clothes easily helped him blend into the shadows. Once he was in he moved to the office where he assumed they kept the paper work. If he got this he could have the police raid the Italians shipments and arrest any Irish there to cause harm, it was a win win for his job. And he'd be that much closer to done. Once he was in the office he didn't need a light or anything cause his eyes were already adjusted to the dark he could see just fine, he started going through the papers on the desk, for anything that looked like a shippment list with dates and times.

Cordelia Price didn't often get her hands in the actual day to day business of the Price Empire. She ran the ship, half between CEO and crime boss, but the nitty gritty semantics of it all was generally left to her underlings. It was when things were going bad that she stepped in. And when that happened, the people she'd put in charge were wise to be afraid. Whether dealing with the criminal aspects of the business, or the banal legal enterprises, she was a harsh and ruthless boss, and mistakes weren't accepted lightly. And someone had fucked up. Big time. The warehouse on the docks, one of many, was actually a legit business, a hub for many of the import trades that brought perfectly legal goods into the country under the Price name. It was of course, also a front for bringing in many of the not so legal items. It just so happened, that this particular warehouse was where Anthony had been lifting his.. stock.... The fact that it had gone unnoticed was shocking- a fuck up beyond forgiveness. Sure, it had been Anthony, and one could argue, it wasn't strictly theft. But if he could do it so easily and not get caught, couldn't anyone? That was not the type of business she ran. There were supposed to be those kinds of cracks. And she needed to see first hand how bad it was.
Her car pulled into the fenced in area around the warehouse, and holding up her hand, she stopped Vinny before he got out of the seat to open her door. “ for fuck's sake Vinny, stay in the damn car. It's my own god damn warehouse.” she snapped, her mood more foul than usual. She looked up at the dark building, her hands on her small waist and her mouth turned down in a frown. Incompetence. That's what this was. No security, no staff whatsoever. What the fuck did people think they were running here, a god damn ice cream parlour? Where the fuck were they? She was going to have some choice words for the foreman here, well, there actually wouldn't be man words spoken at all. “ Idiots..” She muttered. “ You stay here. I'm taking a look inside. Fucking hobos are probably having an orgy in there. God damn it. You find out who we got in charge here, and you set us up a meeting with him. First thing in the god damn morning.” she demanded before stalking off towards the entrance, her heels clicking sharply on the concrete. She punched in a code at the door before pushing it open. There was a muffled sound of music coming from a room just off the main entrance. Her frown grew deeper as she walked towards it, barging in to a room to see two uniformed guards sitting, feet up on a table, slurping on coffee and chatting over the radio. There faces registered shock as the small blonde strode in. One at least recognized her and showed the appropriate amount of fear, while the other just looked confused. “ You have two fucking seconds to get your fat lazy asses out of those chairs and out there doing your god damn job, before I break your god damn knee caps! ” It was enough to get even the slow one off his butt and rushing out the door muttering appologies.
Watching as the guards scarpered off, Cordelia rubbed her temples, the beginnings of a head ache coming on. “ Fucking ridiculous. she grumbled to herself, turning on her heels to leave. She stopped, her attention caught by a noise on the second floor. The offices. She frowned, no reason for anyone to be up there. Without a second thought, she made her way up to the second level and towards the office, thinking she was going to find more slacking guards. When she opened the door and instead saw a young man rifling through the papers on the desk. “ Lose something? she said, her voice cold. This sealed it, the damn place was being robbed while those useless guards were goofing off. Vinny was going to have some work tonight afterall, because after she dealt with this idiot, the two downstairs were going to be punching out their time cards... permanently

Austin knew he didn't have to much time to find what he was looking for. The bosses were starting to put the pressure on getting it to them and the station wanted evidence against the Irish mob. Really no one was happy. Though the cops knew things took time and they were more patient with him. And that's why he couldn't screw this up. He let one of the sliding drawers shut to loud and paused for a moment silently cursing to himself. When he thought he was safe he went back to going through another drawer. Finally he found what he wanted. He folded the piece of paper up and put it in the inside pocket of his jacket.
Then he decided to get greedy. Why not get evidence to bring down both organizations in this city. Make it a peaceful place to be. Then the door was opening and a woman was speaking. Damn he got caught. He looked up to see who caught him. He'd recognized her. She was the boss. Like .. the actual boss. It was Cordelia herself. Not once in his two weeks here did he see her go in or out of the building. And the night he decides to break in to get the stuff, she decides to show up. He stood from where he was kneeling. He wasn't gonna be afraid of her although he probably should be, he knew she wasn't above killing someone. "Not a thing. In fact I was just on my way out .. boss" What were the chances that she knew he didn't work for her. She probably had hundreds of employees. He gave her a small smile to try and lighten up her mood.

Cordelia waited in the doorway, watching the guy stand from the ground, cold blue eyes following his every move. A narrow eyebrow quirked upwards as he spoke. She supposed she should give him credit for being ballsy as he stood with a grin, but Cordelia wasn't really impressed by ballsy. In fact, his little smile just enraged the blonde woman more. She gave him a smile back of her own, but there was nothing warm or encouraging about it. A sharks smile as she walked further into the office, flicking the lights on. “ Oh, were you? What's the rush?” Did he think she was an idiot- sure, she couldn't be sure if he worked for her or not, there were way too many people in her payroll to recognized, but regardless, it was obvious he was up to no good, and if he worked for her, well that just made it worse, didn't it?
“ I think we need to have a little bit of a chat, don't you? I mean, what makes you so dedicated that you're sticking around here, at night, alone, in the dark? Huh? I really need more people like you” she said, walking up to him. The smile, cold as it was, dropped entirely from her face as she brought her hand up, delivering a sharp slap across his cheek. “ Now. What's actually going to happen here, is you're going to drop the act, sit your ass down, and tell me what you came here for.” she said, pulling out her phone and calling down to Vinny. “ Get your ass up here ” she hung up without waiting for a reply, eyes like ice chips as she stared down the stranger.

Austin swallowed a little when the smile she returned wasn't very friendly. Though he wouldn't have expected anything more from a woman like herself. He'd heard a lot about her. And really he was supposed to avoid her as much as possible. While the department wanted to bring the Irish down, getting caught in Cordelia's cross hairs were more deadly than any of the Irish's. She was a lot colder in his book. Though he didn't budge when she moved towards him. He stood there with no fear showing on his face. Why give her the satisfaction or the upper hand. "There's really nothing to talk about. And yeah I'm one of a kind there really should be more like me"
Then he felt her hand make contact with his cheek. A slap? Really? Not that he was complaining but a slap to the face wasn't what he would expect to get when meeting her. Then she was giving him orders to sit down and tell her what he came there for. "I'm not stupid enough to sit down. I know how you people work, If I got the free time I file the paper work for the boss so he doesn't have to do it when he comes in. Just so happened to be that I didn't have a hot date tonight but now that you're here, I don't have to be. Now you have your explanation." He thought he was pretty quick on his feet. But when she had her phone out he knew she was calling for her goon to come do the dirty work so he needed to leave. "As nice as this meeting was I'm gonna choose not to stick around." With that he moved passed her and headed for the door.

Cordelia's patience was at it's thinnest. First the problems with Anthony, then the epic fuck up that was the security at this warehouse, then this little shit has the audacity to talk back to her? No, she was done being even slightly reasonable. Perhaps this guy thought that his flippant attitude would win him some favour, perhaps he was just an idiot. But anyone who knew Cordelia knew there was a time to shut the fuck up and pray you got out of her bad books. That time was now. Her face fell more into firm cold lines as the guy continued to back talk and went to walk past her. It was just one of many mistakes he'd made since she walked in this room.
Cordelia wasn't known for being a calm and reasonable woman at the best of times. As he walked past her, she was done even putting up the pretense of patience. She never really could. In her position, she was constantly forced to exert herself. Since she was 15, she'd had to be this person, and luckily, she was good at it. Her hand slipped to her back where she took hold of the 22 she always had strapped in the waistband of her skirts. IN a smooth and practiced motion, she pulled out the gun and leveled it at the guys back and squeezed the trigger. The gun went off with a loud crack, the bullet whizzing the short distance and blowing though his shoulder. It would have been easy to aim for his head, but she wanted to know what the fuck he was doing. Vinny, probably spurred on by the sound of a gunshot, ran into the room as Cordelia calmly walked over the intruder. “ I said, sit the fuck down.”

Austin knew he had to get out of there before something bad happened. Before her side kick got there to take her orders to pretty much beat him to death. What he didn't expect was what happened next. Was for her to do the shooting herself. The feeling of the bullet ripping through his shoulder hurt like hell. It hadn't been the first time he'd been shot but it sure didn't hurt any less. The hand opposite of the shoulder shot instantly when to where the bullet tore through. He couldn't help but fall to his knees at that point at least half giving her what she wanted.
And then there was a man entering the room. He supposed that was Vinny. Nothing made one more faster than a gun shot. Unless you were the one being shot. This was probably why he was told to steer clear of her. He was probably going to die at this point. Or suffer a lot. His mind was still working on a way to get out of there. Except all he could think about was how bad his shoulder hurt right now. She really was an ice queen. Did whatever she had to, to get what she wanted. Even just to make someone sit down. "Now what? .. You gonna kill me over some filed paper work? .. You really are the ice cold bitch everyone says you are. Maybe" He couldn't help but let out a small laugh at what he was about to say. "Maybe if you got laid every once in a while you wouldn't be so cold and tightly wound" He was sure that would earn him something else that hurt but at this point he didn't really see a way of getting out of this so why not push the woman's buttons.

Vinny was looking a little shell shocked as he watched his boss calmly put the gun down on the desk. Cordelia had years to learn she had to do some of the dirty work. If she didn't, no one would respect her. But she hadn't needed to in years. If she was the one picking up the gun, it usually meant the woman was more pissed than her cold, calculating face would betray. The words that spewed out of the guys mouth were meant to make her angry, and Vinny's cringe was a good indication that the result wasn't going to go over well. Cordelia, however, simply smiled, her heels clicking sharply on the ground as she walked towards where the guy was now on the ground. Cordelia crouched down in front of him, meeting his eyes. “ You should probably be a little more concerned about your health, not worrying about my sex life” she said, delivering a point by putting her hand on his shoulder, pressing down on the gunshot wound.
She stood up, a satisfied smile on her face, wiping the blood from her hand with the guy's jacket as she motioned Vinny over. The large man, shock worn off grabbed the man by the shoulders, harshly dragging him to his feet, and pressing him into a chair. Cordelia took a step back, leaning against the desk, watching her captive cooly. “ Now. Let's try this again. What are you doing here?”

Austin hadn't really looked up to see Vinny. No need to see the man if she was already doing the dirty work. Why should she stop now? Though what he'd said clearly made her angry cause now she was walking towards him and crouching down in front of him so she could look into his eyes. She'd put her hand on his shoulder and pressed down on his wound. That hurt like a bitch. He let out a grunt instead of the scream he wanted to let out. He wasn't going to let her have the satisfaction of knowing just how bad that hurt. That was something people like her fed off of. And if it was no longer fun for them then they left you alone. She was just an older bully with a gun.
Then her goon was picking him up and pulling him to his feet roughly. That was painful as well. And the room had seemingly gotten hotter since he'd come in. The sweat that had broken out on his brow was an indicator of that. Then he was being put in a chair. Hell why not just leave him on the floor. The mess would be easier to clean up that way when she was done. He rolled his eyes at her question she sounded like a broken record. "Oh my god, Are you deaf or really just that stupid? I already told you I was filing your paper work. Don't believe me then look." Thankfully who ever had done the job earlier that night had the time to file the paper work cause the folder was empty. He let his eyes travel down to the hole in his shoulder.

Cordelia rolled her eyes at the guy's broken record routine. When you have a bullet shot through your shoulder, seems like a pretty good indication that no one is buying what you are trying to sell. Despite what people thought, she really didn't enjoy this part- which was why she normally had some goon or another do it for her. But she wasn't about to give in and look squeamish now. She looked over to Vinny, standing behind the guy, holding him down, and gave a slight dip on her head, her face bored as she brought her hand up and picked at her nail. At the signal, Vinny dropped his hold, coming around to face the guy. The man was a goon, big, strong, and with a punch that could knock out teeth in single smash. Cordelia didn't even bother to watch as Vinny brought back a fist and slammed it into the guy's face, her own expression not even flinching at the sound of fist connecting to nose. Vinny delivered a few more blows before she cleared her throat. Looking back at her, Vinny dropped his hand and stepped away, an attack dog being called off.
She turned her attention back to the guy. “ Really, this is all just so damn tedious. Just tell me what the fuck you are doing here in my warehouse, and we can just end his now.” she said, leaning down to look into his eyes “ I'm not about to buy the faithful employee thing, so just save us all some time, and yourself some pain, and tell me the truth.” She turned to glare at Vinny, as he was suddenly there, in her personal space, leaning into take a closer look at the guy. “ Vinny- fuck off, what are you doing?” she snapped. Vinny looked apologetic before stepping back. Sorry boss. He just looks familiar is all.. She raised an eyebrow and looked back at the guy. Familiar, huh? Maybe there was some truth in him working for her then. Which really was worse. “ Really? Interesting. ” Vinny nodded, his beady eyes looking at the guy carefully. “ Not from around here though, I think I've seen him hanging around the Conner warehouses.[/color]” Cordelia's mouth thinned as she looked back to the man. “ One of Conner's boys, huh? ” She glared down “ Well, well, well. Plot just thickened”

Austin knew once Vinny got there he'd be doing the work now. And he'd been correct. Cause the man was then hitting him in the face. He had to be strong. Mentally and physically. He silently thanked god for the hitting to be over. He stayed quiet while Cordelia talked. His eyes stared coldly back to hers. People like her made him sick and he wished he could just rid the world of people like her. But he had to follow the law to do it which is the only reason they aren't dead or behind bars already. And if he wasn't under cover trying to bring down the other family he'd have her for assaulting a police officer. But if he let that slip she might just kill him here.
Then Vinny was saying he recognized him. And from hanging around the Conners. Well shoot. "What if I said I was an independent party sent to infiltrate the Conner organization to bring him down. He'd no longer be a problem for your organization. I'm here because I need a single piece of paper to get me in. You want Conner gone, then you have to let me go." He knew how much the two families hated each other. Cordelia should jump at the chance to have Conner gone. His eyes looked to hers still as he spoke and they never wavered. Now that Vinny had blown any cover he had why lie. "So kill me and things stay the way they are or let me live and leave here with what I need and the whole city can be yours." He could taste the blood that Vinny had knocked from his nose. A spot above his eye was bleeding as well and he could feel it.

Cordelia's eyebrow twitched up, her lips pursed slightly as she looked the guy over. Interesting. Things had definitely taken a different turn than she would have expected. She wasn't overly worried about the Connor organization, not really. Sure she hated them, but she didn't really have that much respect for how Patrick Connor ran things. Perhaps she was a bit biased, but she pretty much figured they were jokes. If and when the time actually came, she was confident they could take out the Connors all on their own. Still, it was an alluring idea, one that she would be foolish to not take a moment to consider. “ Well, seems like someone is singing a different tune now.” she said, going back to leaning against the desk. Vinny was looking as dull and angry as ever, his ham sized hands still curled into fists. “ what do you think Vinny? Think this piece of scum is telling the truth?” To be fair, it didn't really matter what Vinny said, she was hardly going to take his advice, there were only a small, handful of people she trusted for that, and he didn't make the list. I don't know boss, seems a little too convinient, doesn't it? She smiled, there was a reason she'd asked him, if Vinny could be counted on for one thing, it was stating the obvious. “ Just what I was thinking Vinny. ” she said with a nod.
She looked back to the guy “ What in god's name makes you think that I would trust you for one second? You've got no bartering chips here, you were made. Of course you're going to say whatever it takes to get out of here.” she went back to casually cleaning her nails. “ Here's what I'm thinking- You are some low level no one in the organization, and thought you'd get yourself a little bit of respect by coming in here. Independent party my ass. And now you've been caught.' she stated simply, picking up her gun from where she'd set it to rest. “ I'm not too concerned about the Connor's. I hate those bastards, but when push comes to shove, I think we're going to come out on top.” she brought the gun up, leveling it at his head “ So you're going to need to do better than that to get me to stop from shooting you in the head right now.”

So obviously even the truth wasn't good enough for these people. Austin had never met people like them. Lies were lies and truth was a lie as well. "Funny thing is when people are made with no bartering chips .. they usually tend to tell the truth because they figure they're dead any way so what's it really matter?" Austin really hated people like Cordelia and Patrick Conner. He felt bad for the people he touched like Lilly. He really liked her a lot and if there was a way to rid her of the life she'd gotten sucked into he would. He wasn't going to give up until there was a bullet in his head. Which could very well be in the next couple minutes.
He watched her pick up her gun. Well here it was do or die. "Let me prove it to you. Right now .. Give me a task to prove it" Why would she kill a man who was willing to do the dirty work and let her have the reward. She wasn't a stupid woman. She was smart. "why be the one with dirty hands when you can let someone else do it for you." His eyes still looking to hers, instead of the gun she was pointing at him. He wasn't scared to die. He hadn't been afraid of dying since the first time he'd been shot as a cop. He knew what the risks of taking this assignment was and if she killed him he know the department would have her head on a silver platter. So he wasn't afraid to die.

Cordelia continued to eye the man shrewdly. It mattered a hell of a lot. People make up a shit load of excuses and reasons when they think it would keep them alive. She doubted this shit had anything on Connor, or was going to take him down. What she did have, was an in to the Connor organization, and that could be worth letting the man keep breathing. She motioned to Vinny “ Check his pockets. I want to see what was so important he broke in here.” she said, paying no heed to his suggestion about proving himself. He wasn't in the driver's seat here, she was, and she'd get to what he wanted to say at her own pace. She watched as Vinny rather roughly manhandled the guy, before finding pay dirt. Her goon walked over, handing her a sheet of paper. Cordelia took it from him, her eyebrows raised a little before her lips split into a small grin. “ This? This is what you came here for?” she laughed, putting the shipping manifesto on the desk. “ You think Connor would be interested in my exports from Italy? Oh, I bet you thought those crates coming in were filled with all sorts of goodies. ” she shook her head “ You risked your life to tell that asshat when the next shipment of deli meats is coming in. Nothing beats real prossuttio from Italy.”
She leaned against the desk, her face contemplative Before coming to a decesion and standing straight.. “Vinny. Go find one of those guards. ” she said simply. The man looked hesitant to leave her alone, but when she leveled a glare at him, he scooted out pretty fast. “ So, you want in with the Connors... that little schedule isn't going to get you shit.... but you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.... You prove yourself to me, and I'll get you something that will impress those idiots, really, worthless in the long run, but whatever, they won't know the difference. In exchange, you're going to be a bit of a double agent, Bond. You report to me directly. I want to know what that sleeze and his boys are getting up too. Capiche?”

Austin didn't let his eyes waver from hers. Though he was feeling pretty weak at the moment. Then Vinny was roughly searching his pockets. This made him wince a little. The hold in his shoulder hurt. It hurt terribly. He watched Cordelia look over the paper and that grin on her face, oh how he'd like to wipe it off. How did he know she wasn't messing with him about what was coming in from Italy. He wasn't sure he could trust anything that she said like she couldn't trust anything he said. They didn't respect each other that's why. Then again she was the one holding the gun so he really had no choice but to believe what she said right now.
Then she was telling Vinny to go find one of the guards. He'd pretty much walked passed them and they never even moved an inch. When they were alone she continued to talk. She was saying if he proved himself to her she'd give him what he needed to get himself in with the Conner's. He didn't really have a problem being a double agent. it wasn't like he wasn't already ratting what he knew about the Conner's already to his boss at the station. He nodded some to her. "What is it that I gotta do to prove myself to you?" He knew a woman like her couldn't pass up the opportunity to have someone on the inside in the Connors organization. One day someone would bring her down as well. Maybe not him but someone would.
