Strengths: determined, intelligent, kind, good sense of humor, willing to make sacrifices for what she believes in, graceful, charming
Weaknesses: trusts easily, has a hard time telling people no, very naive in a lot of ways, low self esteem, can be a little too literal and logical at times, money (as in she wants it)
Goals: To get her chemical engineering degree and start a real life, hopefully far from River City
Fears: Being stuck where she is, never making it out of the industry she's in, cats, bees and heights
Secrets:Her secret is her job, clearly the people she works with are well aware, but her family, friends and classmates have no idea what she does, and she intends to keep it from them, she is quite ashamed of it.
Likes: school, numbers, friends, family, dogs, daisies, literature, Will Farrell movies, hockey, shopping, dancing (while clothed mind you)
Dislikes: her job, men leering at her, her father, drugs, people judging her
Overall Personality: Lilly is at heart, a nice girl. She's fairly sweet when you get to know her, kind and gentle, though don't be completely fooled, she does have claws and knows when to use them. She's quite intelligent, though that doesn't always come across, she tends to be very logical in how she looks at things, quite practical, and over literal, which annoys some people but can make her an excellent person to go to for advice. While she'll try to be nice about it, she can be quite blunt and doesn't really like to sugar coat things too often. She is can be very strong willed, though not in an overly aggressive way. She does have a bit of a stubborn streak, and will rarely back down from something once she'd committed to it. She is not very confident in her looks and intelligence, which give her a bit of an air of vulnerability. Lillian is not overly confrontational or aggressive, really she's the opposite. She would rather avoid any and all confrontation, but will lash out if she'd backed into a corner. She can seem fairly serious at times, and often people have a hard time telling if she's joking or not with them. She's very determined, and once her mind is set to something, she is hard to shake off. She has a good concept of right and wrong, but she also thinks that in the right circumstances, the rules can bend a little. She has a hard time telling people no, which can lead her into some bad situations, and often trusts people too easily. She, despite having great book smarts, really isn't all that street smart, and again, this naivete leads her into bad situations from time to time. She has a hard time hiding her emotions, she wears them on her sleeve, so people can usually tell when she's upset or angry, even when she'd trying her hardest to hide it. She seems a little overly focused on money, probably because she never had any. So the whole idea of earning, making and saving it is a big thing with her. She's a busy girl, with a lot on her plate she has to be a queen of multitasking. It's not uncommon to see her working on an assignment between her sets at the club./
all reason aside i just can't deny, love the guy...
Hometown: Chicago, then River City
History: Lillian was born in Chicago IL, and from the time she was born, her father really wasn't a part of her life. Her mother jokes, and calls Lilly Jacob's one random act of kindness, as the one time they slept together resulted in Lilly's birth. He tried to be involve, every few months he'd come by to hold his baby girl, swear that he was going to do right by her, and for a few weeks afterwards, Elena would actually get a few cheques from him to help out (they usually bounced, but it was the thought that counts, right?) Elena hadn't expected much, they were young, he liked to drink and party and didn't want to be settled down with a child. It was hard going, With Jacob not really involved, and Elena's strict catholic parents shunning her for having a child out of wedlock, Elena was left to fend on her own. The only help she ever really got was from her sister, who at only 17 could only do so much. Elena struggled, but did her best for herself and her daughter.
When Lilly was 3, her father had a change of heart, after three years of popping in and out sporadically, he was ready to commit to being a father, and do right by Elena. Though some would argue that his apology was a too little, too late, Elena let him back into her life completely, wanting the help with Lilly, craving the companionship, and thinking that maybe they could get things on track and be a real family. It went alright for a few years, a few bumps in the road, but overall, it wasn't too bad. Elena and Jacob were officially together, he was talking marriage, and Lilly had a mom and a dad. Their life was fairly simple, a hairdresser and a seasonal construction worker don't really bring in lots of money, and things were always tight. Growing up, Lilly never really got the best of anything, anything she did get was usually second hand, but as a child, she never noticed, she was happy, and that was all that mattered.
Things started falling apart for her parents when she was 7. her dad had lasted for four years, playing the whole 'father' role, but it was cracking. He was drinking, going back to going out with his friends, coming home at all hours. Elena confronted him about the change. The first time, he swore it was nothing, just stretching his legs a little, everything was fine. When it didn't stop and the already meager paycheques were getting spread thinner and thinner, she confronted her again. This time it was a fight, one that ended when he hit her hard enough to bruise. It was a rough time at their household, everyone was on eggshells, trying not to upset the delicate peace that they had, but it was a losing battle. What Elena hadn't known, was that on all these 'party' nights with his friends, Jacob had picked up a nasty habit... he was taking Meth, and on a rather frequent basis. This was the main reason behind both the dwindling pay and his volatile moods and his own personal deterioration. When she found out, she gave him an ultimatum. You pick the drugs or you pick your daughter. You can't have both. He picked the drugs.
The last time Lilly really say her father was 2 weeks before her 8th birthday, when her mom packed their things and moved out of their house. She still wasn't getting any support from her parents, and though her sister still wanted to help, she wasn't in much of a position too. They struggled to make ends meet, and for a brief period, Elena was forced to go on welfare to make sure they had food and a roof over their head. For her part, Lilly was mostly just sad, she couldn't understand why she couldn't see her dad anymore, why he didn't want to see her. A hard thing for any 8 year old to grasp. The single mother and her daughter lived like that for a year, barely surviving. When she was 9, Jacob started coming around her school, hanging outside the apartment, Lilly never noticed, but Elena sure as hell did. When she approached him, he spun a tale of contrition, about how he wanted to be a part of his daughter's life, and she had no right to take her from him. It was obvious that he was still on drugs, and Elena refused to let that be in her daughter's world. He started threatening, that he would get her, one way or another. Mostly ramblings of a man who's brain was addled by drugs, but it spooked Elena.
She decided that they needed to get out of Chicago, away from Jacob, away from her estranged family, just away. Somewhere they could start new. She chose River City. Things weren't that much easier in RC than they had been back in Chicago, but Elena was happier, felt less burdened knowing she was far from her past troubles. Lilly's teen years passed fairly easily. She was a bright girl, did well in her classes. She would have done better had she not been forced to work. It still wasn't easy to support their small salary on the meager income her mom made, so as soon as she was old enough, Lilly started working. All through out high school, she worked at a local dinner, every night from 5 until midnight. It helped pay the bills, but definitely took the focus off her studies.
When she graduated, she immediately started full time. She was an adult, and she couldn't burden her mother anymore, she had to pull her equal share of the weight. So instead of looking through college brochures like the rest of her friends, she was pulling double shifts at the diner. Lilly worked hard, helping her mother as well as putting money aside for herself, but never put aside the dream of going back to school. Her mom, who'd never been to college, wasn't overly supportive of the idea, why did you need a fancy, expensive education, when you could live without it. And where would the money come from? Tuition was not something either of them could afford. Lilly wanted to go, simply because she didn't want to live the same life as her mother, always working her fingers to the bone, and never having anything to show for it. She wanted a house and a car and nice things. She wanted to take trips, travel and vacation, and she wasn't going to get any of that working as a minimum wage waitress.
She thought that she could make more money in tips if she went to work somewhere other than a diner, and that maybe the income would be enough of an increase to get into school. She was 21 years old, had a little bit of money saved up, and was ready to actually live her life for herself. She moved out of her mom's apartment, found one of her own, enrolled in school with the plan of being a chemical engineer, and found herself a new job. When she started at Murphy's she was uncomfortable, but knew that she would make more waitressing at the strip club that she would anywhere else. It only took a month and a half before she was approached about getting up on stage and stripping. Initially she said no, but her practical side came in, and she started thinking of the numbers. She would make so much more as a dancer than as a waitress, which meant more money to make sure she could make her tuition payments. She said yes. None of her close friends or her mother knows about this. She told them she worked at Murphy's, but assures them it's only as a waitress.
After being there for 6 months, she had her first taste of the mob aspect. Everyone who works there knows who runs the joint, by Lilly, like many of the girls, ignores it. She was changing back into her street clothes one night after work when she heard a commotion in the back office. Going to investigate, she opened the door just in time to watch Jacob Connor but a bullet through someone's head. She to this day has no idea who the guy was or what he'd done, but the scene is burned into her memory. All eyes in the room turned to her when she let out a startled scream, and almost as quickly, guns were leveled on her. She had a choice to make then as well, freak out, or remain calm and make the situation work for her. She chose the latter, a good idea since option A would have gotten her killed as well. She had to be on their side, one of them, so she wasn't a threat, that was her logic, and it served her well, because she's still alive and kicking. It started off simple enough, she passed along a few drugs, no one suspected the stripper taking a man off to one of the 'back rooms' for a private dance was actually going to pass off fortunes in drugs to be sold on the street. It was a clean operation, and while she didn't like it, she did it. They started pulling her into other things, generally being used as a decoy, a pretty face does a lot of wonders to get you in places, and she was the perfect one to use, men tended to be less guarded around her, and while she didn't like to think about it, she was sure that lured more than one man to a fate she'd rather not thing about. For a year and a half, she's been a bit of a jack of all trades, the drug runner, the decoy, an occasional thief, whatever they tell her to be. She's torn, while she hates doing it, and would have been no where near this side of things if fate hadn't forced her hand, there is an aspect that she likes. The power and more importantly, the money that come along with it. As long as she'd working for the mob, the money she is making is more than paying for her school. She can put up with it for two more years, then, with school done, she can leave. Quit the club, quit the mob, and take her and her mother the hell out of River City.
