Riley just did not seem like the mobster type. Maybe she was making unfair generalizations, but she’d had the unfortunate chance to get to know a lot of them, and he just seemed too… well, good. Not that all the men that she met in that aspect of her work were necessarily bad on a personal level, but they tended to fit a certain stereotype. Riley didn’t fit those. Which is why she would be willing to go out with him, because it seemed like, though it was totally unfathomable to her, that he actually wanted to. Not because he thought she was hot or whatever, but because he cared on some level that wasn’t just physical. Her smile broadened when he spoke again. See? That was what she meant. He knew she was in school, that it was important to her, and made a point to cater to that. “ That would be really great actually. Thanks Riley.” she smiled and took a little sip of her drink. “ I guess that doesn’t really make me seem like the life of the party, but I have an exam coming up, extra study time is always a good thing.” she pushed her hair behind her ears “ You know… you’re different than the rest of them Riley.” she said with a nod and a little smile.

Austin smiled at her. He knew studying was important. It was important in any schooling. If you wanted people to hire you they look at things like grades and internships and stuff like that. He knew, He had to pass the police academy after all and while it wasn't as hard as what she was taking he still had to pass with good grades and good markes in other things. Though she wouldn't know he knew anything about that. Everyone in this life knew Riley was a drop out in highschool. Or at least thats what the files said. But really Austin had a 4.0 in high school.
"I bet that its hard going to college. So I don't think you have to be the life of the party. You're working hard for something you want. And I think that's a much better quality than staying out to late doing god knows what." He did admire her for pursuing school even though she was in a bad enough place to be working in a strip club and doing god knows what else for the Conners. "I am? How's that?" He didn't really know what she was talking about. But it would be nice to hear how he was different than what ever it was she was comparing him too.

Lilly laughed a little, normally being told you weren't the life of the party wouldn't be considered a good thing, though even before college she'd never been much of the party goer to begin with. Still, it would be easy to be insulted by that, but oddly enough, it wasn't a bad thing the way he said it. She worked damn hard at school, and at her job, as shitty as it was, to make sure that she always had her head above water. Maybe most people her age would be out partying all the time, but she had different priorities, she wanted to make a better life for herself. She smiled a little, and yet again, Riley was different than most of the guys, sure he'd dropped out of school, or at least that's what she'd heard, but he still got it, understood how it was important. She chuckled lightly and took another small sip. “ Yeah, not going to lie, it's damn hard sometimes. Especially with the late hours at the club... but it'll be worth it when I am finally done. Nothing worthwhile is ever supposed to be easy, right? Or at least that's what I tell myself. Besides, even if I wanted too, I am really not one of those 'out late doing god knows what' kind of girls. Never really could get into the whole reckless partying thing.”
She smiled a bit, fishing out an ice cube from her glass and popping it into her mouth. “ You're just don't really fit with the other rough around the edges mob boys.. there's just something, I don't know... better, about you.” her cheeks went a little pink as she hastily tried to change how that sounded “ I mean, you know, you just aren't what I would have expected.” she said with a nod.
Occ// haha, I am cracking up because I just imagine them dating, eventually sleeping together and her being all like 'oh Riley' and he's like, “WTF, who's Riley?.. oh wait, right, it's me.” I'm easily amused.

Austin smiled listening. The recklace partying thing didn't really fit her. She was who she was supposed to be or she was on her way to being that. He didn't think she should have to take her clothes off to get there but the way the world worked was totally not fair. And what sucked even most was that it wasn't fair to the people who deserved better. And she was one of those people. And to make matters worse she was into things with people who were gonna throw her under the bus to stay out of jail and some how it was up to him to make sure she didn't get her life ruined in his mission.
Then she was telling him what was different about him, that he just was different. He looked to her some "Is it ah ... Is it that obvious I'm different?" Maybe he was losing his touch. He was supposed to blend in. If she could spot it then anyone could and that could be bad. He wasn't sure what to do. He swallowed some. Maybe he should just give up and move on to being a dective. Instead of an under cover detective. But on the other hand he's invested two years in this mission. It would be a waste to botch it now just because a girl thought he was different. No for now he would stick with things.

Lillian shrugged at his question, looking down at her drink. “ No... it's not a huge thing... just... You're a good guy, you know? You don't seem as ruthless as some of the other guys... You actually listen when I talk to you.” she looked back up at him with a small smile, getting lost for a moment looking in his eyes. “ And you have kind eyes... not many guys who come into the club have kind eyes.” She looked down again, a little embarrassed “ Don't worry, it's not a bad different... probably not even something anyone else has managed to spot, guys aren't normally great at picking that stuff out. You still seem all tough and manly with the rest of them I'm sure.” she said jokingly.
Lilly smiled widely as her ordered chicken fingers came to the table. One, it was a good distraction from babbling on anymore about him being a great guy, it was starting to sound like she was gushing. And number two, God she was starvings. As if on cue, her stomach let out a tiny rumble. Great, really lady like Lilly. She thought with an embarrassed smile. She picked up a piece of chicken and took a small bite. “ So, I don't really know all that much about you Riley. Are you from River City originally?” she asked curiously.

Austin smiled when she said he had kind eyes. That she didn't meet many people with eyes like his. Maybe he was getting soft. Or maybe he just had them when he was looking at her. She deserved to have a man look at her like she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. And to Austin, that's what Lilly was. He tried not to go into the strip club cause if he did he'd want to kill just about every guy who looked at her wrong. He hated knowing she was a stripper. Probably cause he knew there was such a good person underneath all that, one who deserved better.
Then she was asking him if he was from river city originally. He shook his head slightly. "No. I grew up in brooklynn. My mom raised me. Things were .. always tight. But we managed." He knew a little where Lilly came from. Having no money, and working hard for the little you have. And wishing you could change that. The only reason he had a lot of money was because he was always undercover and what the station paid him was just direct deposited in his real bank account. He worked shit jobs like in the warehouse to make ends meet on the shit apartment he rented.
